About This Experience

This Great Barrier Reef Snorkel Tour is an 8-hour guided snorkelling experience departing from Hamilton Island Marina. It takes about 2 hours each way to Bait Reef, the closest outer reef location in the Whitsundays, where you spend about 3.5 hours exploring two distinct snorkel sites. All snorkelling equipment is provided, and the day includes a buffet lunch plus morning and afternoon tea.

The Great Barrier Reef Snorkel Experience

Bait Reef sits at the top of every serious snorkellers' list in the Whitsundays as it is an outer reef site with vivid water clarity and coral density that inner reef experiences simply can't match.

The two-hour morning cruise out is not dead time. The commentary from the crew sets the scene, both ecologically and in terms of what you're about to see. So by the time the vessel drops anchor at the Bait Reef mooring, you're ready. Guides enter the water with you on safety boards, helping with technique if needed and keeping a watchful eye while you drift over living coral gardens. teeming with marine life.

What sets this tour apart from a short reef transfer is the depth of time on location. With at least 3.5 hours across two different sites, you experience Bait Reef as a place rather than a photo opportunity. High-quality masks, snorkels, fins, wetsuits, stinger suits, and flotation jackets are all included, so you're well-equipped regardless of your experience level.

Lunch is served back on board between sites, healthy buffet with morning and afternoon tea bracketing the day.

Who Is This Cruise Best Suited For

This tour suits confident swimmers and snorkellers who want good outer reef access rather than a sampler. It's well-suited to families with children 5 and over, adventure-seeking couples, and solo travellers looking for a full immersion in the reef. For those with dive certification, the upgrade to two certified dives makes this one of the most efficient experiences available from Hamilton Island.

This experience is all about snorkelling – are you ready to discover the wonders of Bait Reef with us?
