About This Experience
Your search for incredible marine life encounters ends here – come aboard to join the first ever ‘in-water’ Humpback Whale interaction tour from Ningaloo Marine Park. Nothing gets wilder than this! This adventure is mainly for the water-loving, confident swimmers out there. But don't fret if you're not one of them! You can choose the ‘Observer’ option, and that means you're still invited to join in on all the fun activities in the plan, except for the in-water rendezvous with a Humpback Whale.
Begin your journey from Exmouth and cruise to the protected waters of Ningaloo Marine Park. This World Heritage-listed site is renowned for being one of the important routes for the Humpback Whales on their annual migration from Antarctica to the Kimberly region.
Aboard the Windcheetah, a purpose-built 60ft sailing catamaran, the friendly crew will help you put on the masks, snorkels, fins, and wetsuits. The crew will give you some helpful tips and you are free to clear any doubts you may have.
Once ready, jump into the crystal clear waters at a stunning snorkel site in the sheltered lagoon. Explore the breathtaking corals and greet the colourful schools of fish, turtles and rays. This is also a perfect opportunity for you to practise getting on and off the boat before your whale swims.
Take a break and enjoy your morning tea. Meanwhile the spotter aircrafts will start searching for Humpback Whales. The pilot, the skipper and the crew will take a call on whether the whales are viable to swim with.
All the swimming guests will put on their snorkel gear and get ready to interact with the whales in the water. The observers will remain on board and enjoy all the action from the bow of the vessel.
Now, take the plunge! Swimming with whales is undoubtedly a life-changing experience. So take your time and enjoy every moment, but make sure that you treat the encounter with respect.
Once you have spent time with the whales, climb back on board. A delicious buffet awaits you. As you savour the lunch, Windcheetah will take you around to spot other wildlife sightings. If you are lucky, you will be able to see manta rays, dolphins, whale sharks, and more.
Afterwards, you will return to the lagoon and disembark at another spot on the reef to snorkel again. If weather and time permit, you will be able to use stand-up paddleboards or glass-bottom kayaks to explore a different part of the reef. On your cruise back, unwind on board with some afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling wine.
