About This Experience

The Low Isles Afternoon & Sunset Sail is a 5.5-hour sailing catamaran cruise from Port Douglas to the World Heritage-listed Low Isles Coral Cay. The experience combines guided snorkelling, a marine biologist-led reef tour, a solar-electric glass-bottom boat cruise and a heritage island walk, followed by a sunset sail back to Port Douglas with afternoon tea, gourmet canapés and complimentary sundowner drinks. With lunch, snorkelling equipment and beverages included, it offers a relaxed alternative to a full-day Outer Reef tour while showcasing both the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea at sunset.

The World Heritage Coral Cay Experience

Your afternoon begins with a scenic sail from Port Douglas to the secluded Low Isles Coral Cay. Once you arrive at Low Isles, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Join a guided snorkel with a marine biologist and explore the vibrant coral gardens, or discover the reef from the silent solar-electric glass-bottom boat. You can also take a guided heritage walk to the island's historic lighthouse and learn about its wildlife and ecology. Prefer to slow the pace? Find a shady spot beneath the coconut palms, relax on the beach and enjoy the tranquillity of this tropical coral cay.

The Port Douglas Sunset Experience

After a leisurely afternoon, return to the catamaran for freshly baked scones served with afternoon tea before the sails are raised for the return trip. As the sun begins to set over the Coral Sea, enjoy gourmet canapés and complimentary sundowners while admiring panoramic views of the Daintree Rainforest mountains and the changing colours of the sky. The return sail is a beautiful finale to a day that combines reef exploration with one of Port Douglas' most memorable sunset experiences.

Who Is This Tour Best Suited For?

If you're looking for a reef experience that balances adventure with relaxation, this tour delivers both. Guided snorkelling, island walks and reef interpretation offer plenty to discover, while the leisurely sunset sail home makes it an excellent option for couples, families wanting a more refined Great Barrier Reef experience.
