Discover Underwater Wonders With Outer Reef Cruises

The Outer Great Barrier Reef is located further offshore than the inner reef, and it is where you’ll experience the reef at its most spectacular. These sites are renowned for exceptional water clarity, thriving coral gardens and abundant marine life. Departing from Cairns, the Outer Great Barrier Reef cruises take you beyond the coastline to protected reef locations where you can snorkel, dive or simply admire the “world's largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1500 species of fish and 4000 types of mollusc”.

Cairns is the gateway to exploring the Outer Great Barrier Reef, with quick transfers (around 90 minutes by catamaran for most tours) maximising your time on the reef. Many tours include snorkelling equipment, educational presentations, meals and reef viewing options for non-swimmers. Optional upgrades such as introductory or certified scuba diving, guided snorkel safaris and scenic helicopter flights allow you to personalise your day.
