About This Experience

The 4-Hour Tall Ship Whale & Sail Cruise offers a whale watching experience unlike any other in Sydney, combining wildlife encounters with the adventure of sailing aboard the historic square-rigged ‘Coral Trekker’. Departing from The Rocks - Campbell's Cove, this half-day cruise includes hands-on sailing, a complimentary mast climb, a hot onboard lunch, and plenty of time searching for migrating humpback whales. It's the perfect choice for guests looking for more than a standard whale watching tour.

The Whale & Sail Experience
Step aboard the ‘Coral Trekker’ and experience Sydney's whale migration from the deck of a traditional Tall Ship. The crew invites you to get involved in hoisting the sails and help you learn the ropes of traditional sailing. The vessel sails through Sydney Harbour before heading into open water, where the annual Humpback Whale migration unfolds just beyond the Heads.

One of the biggest advantages of whale watching aboard ‘Coral Trekker’ is the ship itself. The elevated crow's nest provides an excellent vantage point for spotting whales in the distance, allowing the captain to steer towards the action. Unlike motor vessels, the tall ship can sail quietly with minimal engine use, creating a more peaceful environment for both guests and marine life. Its spacious open decks also offer unobstructed views, so everyone has a great vantage point when whales appear.
There's plenty happening between whale sightings too. Your ticket includes a complimentary mast climb, where you'll be fitted with a full safety harness before ascending for sweeping views across Sydney Harbour and the coastline. Later, everyone gathers for a hearty hot lunch of soup, lasagne, garlic bread and chocolate brownies before the adventure continues.

Who Is This Cruise Best Suited For
This cruise is ideal for travellers looking for an experience that's about more than just spotting whales. It's particularly suited to adventurous couples, groups of friends and anyone keen to try traditional sailing or climb a tall ship mast, making it a memorable day out both on and above the water.
