En route to Ile Des Phoques, you'll come across a variety of wildlife. See albatross, dolphins, Australian Fur Seals, whales (seasonal), and the panoramic views of Maria Island and the Freycinet Peninsula.
Once you’ve arrived, you’ll meet the resident fur seals and learn everything about them from the knowledgeable guides. Learn about their home, how they made an epic come back from extinction, and how they are now breeding at Ile Des Phoques again for the first time in 200 years.
You can enjoy your morning tea with coffee and cakes before continuing your exploration through the massive Rainbow Caves. Feel the excitement building as you venture deep into one of the largest granite caves in Australia, possibly in the world too!
After spending time at Ile Des Phoques, you’ll traverse to Maria Island for a delicious lunch experience on one of the white sandy beaches. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch.
Following lunch, you can stretch your legs and enjoy a guided walk along Darlington’s impressive lineup of preserved convict buildings. The guides are passionate about the region and will regale you with the town's incredible history. You’ll come face to face with Maria Island’s resident kangaroos and wombats. But if history is not for you, you can always choose to simply relax on Darlington’s beach, or swim/snorkel in the waters of the islam’s marine reserve.
Make use of the coach transfer option if you’re staying in Hobart. You can travel in a comfortable bus along the scenic Tasman Highway, and if time permits you get to touchdown at Richmond for some souvenir photographs.
