About This Experience

The Tangalooma Aquatic Adventure Day Cruise is a full-day Moreton Island experience ideal for travellers who prefer to explore at their own pace. Combining return ferry transfers with kayak, snorkel and stand-up paddleboard hire, plus full access to Tangalooma Island Resort, it gives you the freedom to spend the day on the water, at the beach or relaxing around the resort, without being tied to a guided tour schedule.

One Day, Three Water Adventures
Your day begins with a scenic catamaran cruise across Moreton Bay to Tangalooma Island Resort. Once you arrive, there's no fixed itinerary to follow. Simply collect your equipment when you're ready and choose how you'd like to spend your time, whether that's kayaking along the coastline, snorkelling around the Tangalooma Wrecks or stand-up paddleboarding in the calm bay.

With kayak hire included, you can explore the sheltered waters surrounding the resort at your own pace, keeping an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles and rays that are often spotted in the area. Later, you can head to the iconic Tangalooma Wrecks, where a collection of intentionally sunken ships has transformed into a thriving artificial reef. Using your snorkel gear, you can discover colourful fish, coral formations and a variety of marine life on a self-guided adventure just offshore. If you'd like to slow the pace, stand-up paddleboarding offers another relaxing way to experience the crystal-clear waters and coastal scenery.

Time At Tangalooma Island Resort
After making the most of the water activities, you can unwind at Tangalooma Island Resort. Enjoy lunch using your resort voucher, relax by the swimming pools, stroll along the beach or visit one of the cafés and bars overlooking Moreton Bay. If you'd like to extend your day, optional upgrades include staying later on the island to watch the famous wild dolphin feeding from the jetty, enjoying a sunset cocktail or taking a scenic helicopter flight before returning to Brisbane.

Who Is This Tour Best Suited For
This experience is perfect for confident swimmers and independent travellers who enjoy exploring at their own pace rather than following a guided itinerary. It's also a great choice for active couples, groups of friends and families with older children who want the flexibility to combine kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding in one unforgettable Moreton Island adventure.

Do I need kayaking or snorkelling experience to join this cruise?
No prior experience is required. The kayaking and snorkelling are self-guided in calm, sheltered waters off the resort beach, making it comfortable for confident beginners as well as experienced paddlers and snorkellers.

What happens if I don't use all of my hire time?
Hire time doesn't carry over or refund once redeemed, so it's worth planning your day around the activities you most want to try. Choosing the earliest boat gives you the most flexibility to fit everything in.

Can I do all three activities in one day?
Yes, that's exactly what this package is designed for. You can mix and match kayaking, snorkelling and paddleboarding across the day in whatever order suits you, though each has its own hire time cap.

Is snorkel gear provided or do I need to bring my own?
All snorkel equipment is included and provided on the day. You're welcome to bring your own mask and snorkel instead if you prefer, though the included hire covers everything you need.

Where do the snorkelling and kayaking activities take place?
Both activities operate in the calm, sheltered waters around Tangalooma Island Resort. Kayaking lets you explore the coastline, while snorkelling takes place around the nearby Tangalooma Wrecks, just offshore from the beach.

Are the water activities guided?
No. The kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding are all self-guided, giving you the flexibility to explore at your own pace during your allocated hire periods.

Can I take breaks between activities?
Yes. You're free to return your equipment and enjoy the resort between activities, whether that's relaxing on the beach, having lunch or taking a swim before heading back out on the water.

Is the Aquatic Adventure suitable for children?
Yes, it's a great option for active families with older children who are confident in the water and want the flexibility to enjoy a range of self-guided water sports throughout the day. Children under the age of 4 are not allowed on this tour.

  • Children under 4 years are not permitted on this tour.
  • Check-in at Holt Street Wharf is required at least 1 hour prior to departure.
  • The return cruise departs Tangalooma Island Resort Wharf by 4:00pm unless an island-time upgrade is booked.
  • On check-in you'll receive a Rego card with your vouchers; it carries a QR code linking to the return ferry schedule and full inclusions detail.
  • Hire time (up to 3 hrs kayak, 3 hrs snorkel, 1 hr SUP) does not roll over or refund once any part of it is redeemed, and late arrivals don't receive credit for missed time. Choosing the 7:30am boat maximises the window to use all three.
  • Kayaking requires participants to be at least 4 years old, with 4 to 15 year olds accompanied by an adult (18+) in the same kayak; solo kayaking is 16+ only. Snorkel gear requires guests to be 6 or older. Stand-up paddleboards require riders to be 12 or older, one person per board.
  • Guests who are pregnant or have a history of epilepsy must provide a current doctor's clearance before kayaking.
