About This Experience

The Tangalooma ATV Quad Bike Day Tour combines a scenic ferry ride to Moreton Island with a guided quad bike adventure through Moreton Island’s bushland and beach tracks. Along with full access to Tangalooma Island Resort, this full-day experience offers the perfect mix of high-energy adventure and relaxed island time, making it one of the most popular ways to experience the island beyond its beaches.

The Quad Bike Tour Experience
Your day begins with a comfortable catamaran cruise across Moreton Bay to Tangalooma Island Resort, where you'll have some free island time before heading to the quad bike centre. After a comprehensive safety briefing and rider training, it's time to climb aboard your ATV and follow an experienced guide through coastal bushland and sandy terrain.

The guided ride takes you across one of Australia's longest purpose-built ATV circuits, offering an exciting way to explore parts of Moreton Island that are inaccessible on foot. Whether you're riding a quad bike for the first time or have previous experience, the guided format allows you to enjoy the adventure with confidence while taking in the island's diverse landscapes along the way.

Tangalooma Island Resort Activities
Once your quad bike adventure comes to an end, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy. Relax by the resort's swimming pools, stroll along the beach, enjoy lunch using your included resort voucher or unwind at one of the cafés and bars overlooking Moreton Bay. If you'd like to extend your visit, optional upgrades include staying later on the island to watch the famous wild dolphin feeding from the jetty, enjoying a sunset cocktail, or taking a scenic helicopter flight over Moreton Island before returning to Brisbane.

Who Is This Experience Best Suited For
This experience is perfect for adventure lovers looking to add an exciting outdoor activity to a relaxing island escape. It's particularly well suited to couples, groups of friends, families with older children who want the reassurance of a guided tour while still enjoying the freedom to ride through Moreton Island's spectacular coastal landscapes.

Can children ride the ATV quad bikes?
Riders aged 10 to 15 can pilot their own quad bike, provided they're chaperoned by an adult and a parent or guardian has signed the consent waiver. Under-18s are allocated a bike matched to their age and size under the manufacturer's safety specifications.

Is there a minimum age to join the cruise itself?
Children under 6 are not permitted on this particular day cruise, separate to the quad bike riding age requirement.

Do I need my own closed-toe shoes?
Yes, closed shoes are required to ride the ATV quad bikes and aren't supplied as part of the tour, so pack a pair of sneakers or similar.

What if I've never ridden a quad bike before?
That's fine. Every rider goes through a full safety briefing and hands-on training with professional guides before setting off, so the tour is set up for first-timers as much as experienced riders.

How long is the ATV quad bike tour?
The guided quad bike adventure lasts approximately 45 minutes, including time spent exploring Tangalooma's bushland tracks.

Do I need a driver's licence to ride an ATV?
No. A standard driver's licence isn't required to take part in the guided ATV experience, provided you meet the minimum age requirements and complete the safety briefing.

Is the quad bike tour guided?
Yes. You'll ride as part of a guided group led by experienced instructors who provide directions, safety guidance and support throughout the experience.

Can two people ride on the same quad bike?
No. Each participant rides their own ATV, with bikes allocated according to the rider's age and size in line with the manufacturer's safety guidelines.

What type of terrain will we ride on?
The tour follows purpose-built ATV tracks that wind through coastal bushland and sandy terrain, offering a mix of scenic forest trails and beachside landscapes.

Can I use my phone or camera during the ride?
For safety reasons, phones and cameras should be securely stored while riding. There will be opportunities before and after the tour to take photos.

What happens if it rains?
The ATV tour generally operates in a range of weather conditions. If severe weather makes the activity unsafe, the operator will advise guests of any changes or alternative arrangements.
