About This Experience

The Mirimar Cruise to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a 5.5-hour return Brisbane River cruise that combines sightseeing with entry to one of Australia's best-known wildlife attractions. Departing from Southbank at 9:00am, the experience includes a captain-narrated cruise along the Brisbane River, approximately three hours to explore Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary at your own pace, and a relaxed return cruise to the city.

The River Cruise Experience
Your day begins at Southbank, where you board the vessel in the heart of Brisbane and cruise upstream towards Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Along the way, the captain provides live commentary on Brisbane's history and riverside landmarks as the city skyline gradually gives way to leafy suburbs, heritage homes and waterfront mansions. Cruising on the river treats you to a slower, more scenic perspective of Brisbane than getting to Lone Pine by road.

After your Lone Pine visit, the return cruise provides another opportunity to relax on the water. The onboard café and bar serve coffee, light refreshments, snacks and drinks, making it easy to unwind while the city skyline comes back into view.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary Experience
Founded in 1927, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the world's oldest and largest koala sanctuary and home to more than 130 koalas. Your admission ticket is included and allows around three hours to explore the sanctuary independently, giving you time to see a wide variety of native Australian wildlife.

Beyond the koalas, the sanctuary has a dedicated Platypus House, free-roaming kangaroos and wallabies that visitors can hand-feed, wombats, Tasmanian devils, dingoes, reptiles and colourful birdlife. You can enjoy the Birds of Prey free-flight demonstration and the working sheepdog show that showcase Australia's unique wildlife and farming heritage, making the visit enjoyable for both adults and children.

Who Is This Cruise Ideal For

  • First-time Brisbane visitors wanting an easy introduction to both the city and its native wildlife
  • Families looking for a relaxed outing with plenty of interactive wildlife encounters
  • Couples and older travellers who prefer scenic river cruise over coach transfers
